I am an avid fan of two very talented musicians. They are 1) Bryce Avary of The Rocket Summer, and 2)Andrew McMahon of Jack's Mannequin. I am sure many of you would also share such an enthusastic love of these musicians. After all, both are very capable musicians, who have helped define the musical tastes of the latest generation. Both have obscene amounts of talent running through their veins. And both of them are distinct, separate people...
...or are they?
The purpose of this blog is to bring to light what I feel is the biggest conspiracy in the musical world since the
Where is my evidence, do you ask? Well, through grueling minutes of research I was able to ascertain these 100% indisputable facts:
1. Visual Similarity
I was struck by how similar Mr. McMahon and Mr. Avary looked when I saw Andrew McMahon's picture in Alternative Press Magazine. Compare to this photo, of Bryce Avary:
Some of you may remain unconvinced. Perhaps this meticulous artist's rendering will place it into better context for some of you:
As you can see, the previously striking resemblance becomes virtually indistinguishable! Some may cop this off as a simple coincidence, or perhaps as the machinations of identical twins genetically modified and separated at birth so as to not arouse the suspicions of the general populace at large. But the facts cannot be ignored! This lead me to begin investigating this "coincidence" more in-depth.2. Vital Statistics
What begin to take shape? Taken from the WikiPedia entry(s) here and here about "Andryce McAvary," we know that Andrew McMahon was born on September 3rd, 1982 in Concord, Massachussetts. Guess who was also born that same year?! That's right, none other than Bryce Avary, On December 31st, 118 days later in Coleyville Texas! Obviously if you were going to fake being two people, you would want to fake them being around the same age. This creates a convenient double life and similarity in physical as well as developmental attributes.
3. The "Distance Problem"
How do I account for the fact that they were born in two different locations? Some would choose to see this as a potential hole in my theory...I see it as one of the major proving factors! Think about it! If someone were to successfully make up an entirely new identity, no doubt they would have to put a lot of thought into such an undertaking. And surely if such a person were to concoct a new identity, they would leave behind subtle clues for others to eventually figure them out and lead them to their super secret headquarters for an eventual epic showdown. I believe the geographic distance in birthplaces represents a very important piece of this twisted, nefarious puzzle:
Think of the distance between Concord, Massachussetts and Coleyville, Texas. When I plug them into mapquest, I get the distance of 1,920.36 miles between the two. The significance? Follow me on this "Warped Tour"...of LOGIC!!!
First, we change the comma to a colon. Why? Because a comma is a single mark, while a colon is two marks. And surely if we suspect one man (if it is indeed a man) to be two men, then we can only be equally suspect of his/her/its punctuation! This leaves us with 1:920.36.
Second, we change the 1:92 part of this number to standard time format. We do this because of the guiding lyric "Life and history repeat" from "So In This Hour." Surely it is a direct reference to this! So, subtracting 60 seconds and adding a minute, we come up with 2:32. The rest is simple arithmetic. if we add the 3 and the 6 together, we get 9. Add 9 to 2:32, and what do you get? 2:41. What is the significance of 2:41?
2:41 is the length of the song "Do You Feel" off of the same album by The Rocket Summer! Do I feel, Mr. McAvary? NO! I THINK!!!
4. The Music Video"
The horrifying truth began to take shape around me. I had been lied to for the larger part of my entire late teenage/early adult life! Then, I received horrifying confirmation of everything I had feared...
19 Seconds in on the music video Do You Feel (The same 19 from 1,920.36 perhaps???!) who should show up?! ANDREW MCMAHON!!!
Of course they are never shown next to each other! Written on Andrew's hand is the emphatic plea, "I can't help it." What exactly is it that you can't help, Mr. McMahon?! Perhaps leading a double life?!?!
The message becomes more and more clear the longer the music video goes on, littered with "Andryce McAvary." In the later part, it is unmistakable: "I want to impact the world but I can't do it alone." Of course no man can do this alone...
...unless, of course, he is TWO MEN!!! IT IS TIME THE TRUTH BE REVEALED! I AM ON TO YOU, ANDRYCE MCAVARY YOU DUPLICITOUS BASTARD!!!
5. The Conclusion"
I believe I have only scratched the surface of this powder-keg. Who knows how far this conspiracy reaches?! I will continue to delve into this UnTrivial Pursuit until the truth comes to light for the general public! As readers, you are responsible to spread this message! Find more evidence to back up this theory! As those who would pose counterarguments, beware: I know not how far this conspiracy truly reaches. I cannot let my resolution be swayed by "facts." To do so would be to drug myself back into the ignorant stupor from which I have just escaped. Be forever vigilant, for I suspect there is much more to this than meets the eye.
